THE ZEB RIKE AWARD
Zeb Rike (rhymes w/‘like’) Award
Since the inception of the McAllen Town Band, one person, Zeb Rike, exemplified the spirit of the community band. He was a driving force behind the scenes in the Town Band’s early years. In 1985, he also served a one-year term as the band’s president.
In the late 80’s, Mr. Rike retired from active participation. For health reasons, he can no longer attend concerts, but the Town Band is still a special part of his life. In 1989, the band created an award in his name to honor those who also personify dedication to the community, the band and music.
